Hill Country Artists

Artists in Fredericksburg

Charles Beckendorf - His subject matter is diverse... from wildlife and western to landscape and nostalgia.  His prints range from small color reproductions to large hand watercolored original lithographs.  His books are beautiful, entertaining, and educational.  Fredericksburg.

John Bennett's Rodeo Studio - A working studio and gallery of fine Western bronze sculptures located in the Heart of the Texas Hill Country.  Fredericksburg.

Nancy Bush - Her pursuit of art has taken her to many beautiful places in the world to study and paint a wide variety of subject matter.  "Landscape is my love and is always a challenge, spiritually and emotionally.  The variety and vastness of it can sometimes be overwhelming."  Fredericksburg.
Alan Carr - Creates museum-quality rocking horses from Texas mesquite.  Each horse is lovingly hand-crafted, fitted with a hand-tooled circa 1890 western saddle, and is definitely today's western heirloom for many generations to come.  Artistic creations, timeless heirlooms, priceless treasures, and whimsical toys are all part of the nature of rocking horses.  Fredericksburg.
Eyfells & Eyfells - Two artists, equal but separate -- Johann Eyfells' bold, organic contemporary sculpture and Kristin Eyfells' oversized, contemporary paintings of celebrity faces -- both strong in impact and beauty.  We welcome you to view a lifetime of magnificent artwork created by this husband and wife team.  Fredericksburg.
James Fox - James began his professional life in music.  After a few years of teaching he became a school principal.  His passion for fine art photography was so overwhelming that he left the teaching profession and began chasing the light.  Fredericksburg.
Keely SmithTexas Hill Country artist specializing in traditional landscape and still life oil paintings and colorful contemporary abstract art.  Represented by Artisan's at Rocky Hill in Fredericksburg and Garden Path Gallery in Boerne.  Fredericksburg.  8/10
Kathy Weigand Photography - Hill Country Images - Services include commercial work, assignments, events, portraits, and weddings.  Her prints often depict a Hill Country or western theme; a beautiful Texas, Colorado, or Wyoming landscape; or colorful seasonal work including wildflowers, bluebonnets, and peaches.  Fredericksburg.

Artists in Other Hill Country Areas
Cheryl Beck - CJB Digital Imaging - Cheryl uses her artistic eye to create a unity between people and the nature that exists in the world around us.  Since her arrival in the Texas Hill Country in 2007, she has been awe struck by the beauty that surrounds her.  She feels she has been "called upon" to capture and share the beauty that surrounds us in our everyday life that sometimes is ignored in our busy world.  Boerne.  1/12
Benini - Contemporary paintings and sculpture of artist, Benini, from the social statements and surrealistic pieces of the early '70s and '80s, through his 20-year focus on the symbol of the rose and his innovative shaped paintings, to the latest illusionistic shaped "starworks" created in the Texas Hill Country.  Benini transforms familiar geometric and organic shapes into lyrical, seemingly multi-dimensional artworks on canvas.  Also see The Benini Foundation Galleries and Sculpture Ranch and Arts Encounters at the Beninis - A cultural event the last weekend of each month, bringing in speakers, artists, musicians, etc.  Johnson City.
Linda Chalberg - Whether the subject is flowers, gardens, historical structures, village scenes, vistas, or unique market settings, Linda enjoys the challenge of working out a composition and the enjoyment of putting paint on paper.  Boerne.
Bobbli A. Chukran - Bright, colorful, fun, and quirky artist; and book author and writer.  Leander.
K. D. Cline - Handcrafts beautiful mesquite and cedar frames and small furnishings, with over 40 years of experience working with wood.  His unique style makes use of the natural irregularities in the wood and combines a rich elegance with rustic beauty, resulting in creations that are truly one-of-a-kind.  K.D.'s frames are also available to custom framing professionals and he is co-owner of Sweet Mesquite Designs, where his work is featured.  Llano.
DeaKyne Designs - Creating custom etched glass in the Texas Hill Country.  Specializing in Texas, western, and wildlife scenes for architectural and "works of art" panels, using multi-stage carved, shaded, and sandblasted glass.  Spring Branch.

Nan Henke - Watercolor artist who works part-time on the family ranch near Fredericksburg.  I usually come home from a day of ranching with more photos of wildflowers, wildlife, and ranch life than I could paint in a month!  Boerne.  1/11

Holts Airbrush - Your one stop shop for all your airbrushed art needs.  They can airbrush on just about anything.  Serving the Fredricksburg, Kerrville, Austin, and San Antonio areas.  Ingram.  10/11

Lou Quallenberg Studios - Art that functions as furniture.  Lou Quallenberg Studios creates contemporary style furniture that captures the essence of the Texas Hill Country.  Working primarily with Texas Mesquite, we attempt to honor the wood and highlight it's natural beauty.  Each curve is carefully created to match the natural curve of the mesquite top.  The curved designs are hand crafted to enhance the look as well as serve as strong support, creating a piece that is both functional and beautiful.  The finish is a hand rubbed oil and wax that calls out for you to touch it.  They are real treasures for generations to come.  Llano.
Ken Malson - A contemporary artist who does modern paintings as well as wood sculpture and creative furniture.  Ken works in 4 mediums: oil paint, printmaking, construction, and art furniture.  Hunt.  2/12
Kathleen Marie - Nationally recognized artist.  A deep love and connection to nature is what inspires Kathleen's art as well as her lifestyle.  Kathleen's unique art medium of pyrography is a superb blending of realistic rendering within the abstract character of wood grain.  Pyrography translates to fire drawing.  Kathleen's technique involves burning images into wood with a delicate electric pen and then sometimes applying color.  Like a sculptor, she sees pictures and stories in the wood.  Johnson City.
Catherine Massaro - Over a span of 30 years, Catherine has worked in a variety of media and with a number of subjects including landscape, still life, and figurative work in oils, pastels, water colors, graphite, lithography, and monoprints.  Hunt.
Jack Moss - Moss paints the scenes he’s grown up with, living all of his life in Texas.  This is country he knows and loves.  The faces, ranching tradition, and wide-open spaces invade his imagination.  Moss’s career life has included football coach, high school Principal, athletic director, horse trainer, and many other interests.  Combining the two talents, cowboy artist and coaching, created a unique situation within itself.  Growing up, he was always with a pencil in hand sketching the West.  Without formal training, he decided to acquire some watercolor supplies and a few “how to” books and set out teaching himself the difficult medium -- the art of watercolor.  His techniques illuminates with vivid color, and the selling of his paintings started almost immediately.  He has won several awards and art shows.  Some of these include The San Antonio Art League Spring Show, J.R. Mooney Debut in San Antonio, and the Humble Art League in Humble, Texas.  Also, he has been featured in Southern Living Magazine, Texas Monthly Magazine, and The Hill Country Magazine.  Llano.  6/11
Max Moss - This website will be a place to document my artistic journey, including sharing the art created and lessons learned along the way.  This includes progress information about each painting, product reviews, and many other items.  This adventure in oil painting began in February 2011.  It also serves as a reference place where great art from Texas Hill Country and Western artists are showcased.  Cedar Park.  6/11
Steven Napper - Born and raised in west Texas, he currently resides and has his own art gallery in the Texas Hill Country.  Steven handles several mediums with distinctive freshness and strong use of color.  His interaction of warm and cool, high and low contrast, strong color, and his skills as a draftsman have made his work easy to distinguish and highly sought.  Ingram.
