Music is a big part of the Florida Keys culture, and not just beach music. Jimmy Buffet is "The Keys Music," but there are many other genres of music being written, recorded, and performed by many varied singers, songwriters, and musicians in the Keys. WestTerry Cassidy - Plays guitar, sings, plays banjo, and also plays bass with his feet as he is singing and playing the guitar and/or banjo -- not an easy feat. Based in Stock Island (Key West). 3/10 Melody Cooper - From jazz to Latin, rock through classical, solo to 14-piece big band, this versatile performer and her various groups are the perfect addition to any wedding, party, or special occasion. Based in Key West. 3/10 Bongo D - Duane Scott, playing steel drum, keyboards, percussion, and vocals. Based in Key West. 2/10 Ben Harrison - An entertainer, his distinctive (some would say skewed) view of the world is evident in his work, both as an author and as a singer / songwriter. Based in Key West. 3/10 Other Keys The Barstool Sailors - Nick Kimball and Micah Gardner. They blend the essence of island music with the fast picking of bluegrass into something they like to call “Islandgrass.” Based in Islamorada. 2/10 John Bartus - Keys musician, writer, and the former mayor of the city of Marathon. Based in Summerland Key. 3/10 Gary Lee Jennings - Playing in the Florida Keys since 1991 at the exclusive Ocean Reef Club, Cheeca Lodge & Spa, Hawks Cay Resort, private parties, fishing tournaments in the Bahamas as well as local restaurants and bars. 3/10 Jen's Music - A regionally renowned musician-songwriter. As a young female acoustic guitar solo artist, she sings original material spanning several styles of music from rock to blues. Based in Marathon. 3/10 Keys Community Concert Band - The Band includes a range of ages from students to individuals in their 80s. The rehearsal / concert format allows musicians who are in the Keys as short-term residents to participate on a month-by-month basis. Visiting musicians are welcome to sit in on rehearsals. The auditorium has a proscenium stage and seats 480 audience members, the grand foyer offers a flexible seating plan for up to 250 audience members, the outdoor performance space boasts a beautiful water view which can accommodate up to 2,500 audience members, and they are available for group events. 2/10Islamorada Community Entertainment - The new ICE's goal is to bring friends, neighbors, and visitors together to enjoy great performances in a stunning setting under the stars -- the TIB Bank of the Keys Ampitheater in Islamorada Founders Park -- and at the impressive Coral Shores High School Performing Arts Center. Based in Islamorada. 2/10 Key West Songwriters Festival - Features more than 100 top songwriters and revolves around five days and nights of more than 20 free concerts, staged at an array of the island's most popular drinking holes and hot spots. Based in Key West. 2/10 Underwater Music Festival - While many symphonies perform under the stars, only one can claim to perform under the sea.
